It’s a long story, but worth telling. I came to MUHU as my last option. Having played American football in high school and college, years of poor technique finally took their toll, and I ended up with bulging and herniated discs in my lower spine. In the United States, doctors told me there was nothing more they could do. First, they suggested a “nerve receptor therapy” to burn the nerve endings in my vertebrae, and when my insurance wouldn’t cover it, they recommended spinal fusions. They even told me that by the time I turned 35, I’d probably end up in a wheelchair.
At just 30 years old, with two small children and a wife who needed my help, that news was devastating. I couldn’t lift my kids off the floor, couldn’t help my wife with even the simplest things, and I depended on a TENS machine every single day just to get by. I carried two with me, just in case one ran out of batteries.
Then, I started hearing about stem cell therapy. After doing a lot of research, I came to Colombia in June, with barely 10% mobility. I went straight to MUHU.
The treatment involved two steps: first, intravenous stem cell therapy, and the next day, direct injections into the intervertebral discs and spinal facets. Everything went smoothly from start to finish. The hospital was top-notch—comparable to any facility in the U.S., but with far better care. Afterwards, I was taken to a beautiful hotel I had chosen nearby, where I had my own nurse for 24 hours to monitor me and manage pain intravenously if needed. Two days later, I was back home in the U.S.
Now, three months later, I can honestly say I’ve regained about 75% of my mobility. But most importantly: I can lift my kids off the ground again and play with them. It might seem small, but for me and my family, it’s been a tremendous blessing.
I can’t thank the doctors enough—Dr. Marulanda and Dr. Rivas were amazing every step of the way, from our very first video call to today. And a special thanks to Steven, the patient care agent, who always took the time to answer even my smallest questions.
All I can say is thank you, MUHU, for giving me my life back.
